The Time Has Come

After my Lab Practical on Wednesday I was a free woman!
well...until today
I spent my 4 day weekend relaxing the best I could knowing I had a lot coming my way Monday
I could not even focus on studying for my final on Sunday
I kept checking and rechecking nursing forums and worrying like crazy
I did finally get to sleep around 3:00 AM

I woke up bright and early at 6:30 AM
I couldn't even imagine eating breakfast...but I did
I drove up to class and waited in the hall for 10 minutes for my final to begin
I checked one last time to see if the results were posted yet
nope

I make my way into the classroom and he begins to pass the exams out
I couldn't even imagine sitting down and taking a 100 question final at this point
there was too much going on in my head

I made it to question number 3 on the exam and the professor makes his way over to my desk and whispers
"You can leave if you want to"
oh my goodness...
I was shocked and walked quietly out of the classroom

I called my Mom to tell her how excited I was about getting out of my exam and she didn't pick up the phone!!!
I decided to check my application online again and low and behold...
I GOT IN!
I was about 3 steps out of the Biology building (walking off UTAs campus for the last time)
I was shaking, tearing up, and frantically dialing my Mom's number
I'm sure people around me thought I was crazy, BUT WHO CARES!!!?
I called my Mom two more times and no answer
I started running to my car and she called me back
I screamed I got in and the rest is history

I
AM
GOING
TO
BE
A
NURSE
!

The morning could not have gone better
We went to Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth for my celebratory lunch
I wasn't even hungry, but I got a little down.

We got home and I put the check in the mail and ordered my background check
It's official

I'm a Blue Devil

Can't stop me now

  1. Hey, Rachel! I'm so psyched to hear that you got into Duke! I work at DUSON and lived in Grapevine, TX, from 7th grade until I graduated from high school in 1993. (I heart Uncle Julio's!) So, when you get here in January, please make sure you stop by my office in School of Nursing Room 3030. I would love to meet you!!!
CONGRATS! You're going to be a DUKE NURSE!

  2. Wow! I can't believe someone from DUSON found my blog! This is great. I can't wait to get to Durham in January to meet you. I just tried Uncle Julio's for the first time last weekend (how ironic). I will be sure to stop by and meet you once I arrive!
