Scout Meets Penny

I drove to Arlington last Friday to spend an extended weekend with my family.
Scout was a trooper and slept the entire way home.

Scout got to meet Penny Lane (airedale terrier) and Ebony (lab/chow).
Penny and Scout played for an hour before they passed out.
By Day 2 or 3, Penny had had enough of Scout. She kept barking at her and they would get jealous of each other's toys.

Saturday, we celebrated my cousin's twins' birthday.
We picked up my grandma and headed over to Ft. Worth.
There was a misting hose that cooled everything off and now I want one.

they were speaking their twin language

4 years old!

4 generations

The pool is out of commission right now due to being redone.
My mom bought a backup pool for the pups.
Scout kept sticking her whole head under the water.

Alley was happy to see me

Monday, Scout had her second vet visit (1st with us).
It was her 9 week checkup/shots.
She weighed 13.4 lbs and is healthy!
She got her parvo/distemper booster and one other.
She got her first round of flea/tick/heartworm meds too.

The staff said she was very well behaved.
I say...she is a good actress.
She sat and shook for the vet.

She even fell asleep at one point.

All healthy

The three girls
As of today, she is 15.1 lbs.

My First RN Job Interview Invitation

First off, I have big news.
I got a call yesterday afternoon for an interview.
I've applied to so many jobs, I had to use the little info the lady left me on my voicemail to put the pieces together to figure out which one was calling.
Turns out, it was for a RN position at a plastic surgeon's office. I'm really excited.
It isn't a NICU, but it is the next best thing for me. I'm not into the hospital scene. These will be patients that WANT to be there. I'm used to the small office setting and prefer it.
This is me talking myself up and imagining myself in this position. Monday-Friday, 8-4 with weekends and holidays off. That is something new to wrap my brain around. Who knew a nurse could have holidays off?

This is all on the same day that my temp license for Texas cleared! I can officially work in Texas!

Okay, the interview is tomorrow and I'm trying not to freak out.
I ironed my suit this afternoon and edited my portfolio.
I think I'm all ready.

Also, I got a call from St. Joseph's Medical Center this morning about a job on a postpartum unit.
When it rains it pours.
I'm waiting for a call back from the nurse manager.
It would be nice to have options.

I hope this is a sign of good things coming.

The pup has been growing and learning.
I just weighed her 10 minutes ago and she is now 12.5 lbs. That is a 2 lb gain in the last 3 days!!
She is biting less and sometimes listens to us when we say "off" (the couch).
Sometimes.

I took her on her first official big girl walk out of the apartment complex.
I took her almost 1.4 miles and she didn't whine until the very end. I picked her up and carried her the rest of the way.
She was a champ.

I wore her out!

We finally sold Lance's old mattress and box springs. There is now room in his study for the tv stand we still need to sell. But, we can now close the door to the study and my suitcase is no longer the barrier for Scout not to get in there.

Marley and plants

Our little girl is 8 weeks old today!
She is now 10.6 pounds, only 1 pound more than when we got her 2 weeks ago.
She has grown in length and I believe she is losing her puppy face.

I've gotten in a couple of runs this past week.

Lance had the great idea of watching Marley & Me.
We both balled our eyes out the last 20 minutes of the film.
Scout, of course, chewed her bone (and our hands) during the film.

Yesterday, we finally got around to checking out 2 of the flower places that are on our street.

The second store had cheaper prices and I'm proud of myself for holding out to make sure.

Here are our purchases:

Our complex must breed gardeners. Everyone has such beautifully decorated balconies. I feel like we might be starting to fit in.

We made a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond where Lance got him a fancy chair like mine for sitting on the porch. We also purchased a mat for the shower because we have both fallen in the past week. Not good.
The next stop was Target. We got some new pots for our plants and I got some outdoor lights...which exploded when I plugged them in and it scared the absolute crap out of me. I'm still sweeping up all the glass!

Tonight's run:

I got one of the last boxes from my moved unpacked. Well, the last one that is out in the open. It was sitting on the dinning room table for goodness sakes.
The table is now clean and it makes me so happy. I hung the last couple of pieces of artwork that I brought from the move. All while Lance was studying. I'm not sure if he has even noticed the one hanging over the front door yet.

Scout is currently crashed out.
Time flies.

Lance and I watched the first 7 seasons of the TV show "Peep Show". It sounds bad, but it isn't what you think. It's a British Comedy series and I laugh so hard while watching it.

I'm off!
