Driving Day #1

Last night was spent with this wonderful man:
I hate goodbyes.

Before he came over, I spent the majority of the afternoon doing last minute packing.
I wore my hobo outfit all day long.

We came extremely close to finishing the first season of Mad Men together.

I'm going to miss this:

Flash forward to this morning:

I didn't sleep a wink. Using all this extra time, I had a photo shoot with Miss Penny Lane:

Hal came up to the front porch to say "meow/goodbye".

I love when his full winter coat comes in. He is so fluffy =)

We dropped the dogs off at the kennel, forced Alley into her kitty carrier, and hit the road.

Alley was not pleased to be caged in the car.

I had planned on driving the entire day, but 2 hours in I realized that would not be possible. I caught myself nodding off and decided to call it quits. We pulled over at the nicest looking Wendy's I had ever stepped foot in and had lunch.
That's where I met this guy:

I was tempted to play this game:
I am completely kidding of course.

We fed the cat and continued on our journey. I took the backseat of the car and created a little cocoon.

Lucky for me, my Mom thought it would a great idea to take a pic of me passed out.

sleeeeeeep....yessss

After a 2 hour snooze (and missing the TX/LA boarder), I let Alley out to stretch.

She ended up handling the ride very well. She has never been in a car more than 15 minutes and has lived in the same house her whole life. She is adapting.

A couple of hours later, we were in Mississippi.

Once we made it to Meridian, MS, we decided to have dinner at Sake Sushi. I picked this place off of Yelp. The reviews were spot on. Delicious!

After dinner, we had 2 and half hours before we would pull into Birmingham, AL.

By now it was dark...and it started to rain. Isn't that the worst?
Thankfully we made it safe to our hotel.
Alley even likes it

I'm trying to take this whole process one day at time. If I think ahead I get anxious and stressed out. So right now, my brain is focusing on another 9+ hour drive tomorrow to make our way into Durham.
