Fourth of July Weekend

The weekend started off great and ended great.
I arrived at RDU airport a bit earlier than normal. I made it to the gate and saw in bold letters: FLIGHT DELAYED. I was about to panic and then realized it was for the flight before mine. I sat at the gate while the last people boarded that plane. I noticed the attendant asking something to the crowd so I took my headphones off and listened closely. "Does anyone want to get on this plane?" It was heading for Houston and I would arrive a little over an hour earlier. I jumped up and ran to the counter. He swiped me in and I was off to Houston!
I arrived and grabbed my bag. The second I stepped outside, Lance was there!
He brought me a dozen red roses and they were so pretty.

We decided to open our anniversary presents to each other.

Lance got me a new charm for my necklace with his initials on it.

I got him some new Sperrys, a shirt, and a shot glass.
You'll see the shirt in later photos.

We went to dinner at III Forks and it was delicious.
We each had a filet and then we got some sides: spinach, creamed corn, and sweet potato hash.
ready to devour my steak
We went out to a bar called Barcadia that has a ton of arcade games.

I beat the high score right away...and then lance beat me by 2,000 points =(

It's okay because I beat him at giant Jenga.

Saturday morning we had to hit the road for Galveston.
First we needed to make a stop for Starbucks.

and lunch

Then it was time to hit the road.

About an hour later we arrived in Galveston.

Our first stop was the aquarium.

No stop would be complete without a photo session.

We checked into our hotel and this was our view:

We needed to make a stop for some beach towels.
We had too much fun shopping around.

We spent the afternoon by the pool until the sun went down.

We wanted to get to a bar a mile down the road called The Spot.
We made it half way and stopped at some random place.
We had these Fourth of July margarita like drinks.

It made our tongues blue.

We did eventually make it to The Spot and had a grand ole time.

We spent all day Sunday at the pool....the swim up bar at the pool.
This was after we started up on the balcony.

heading to the pool

We ended up walking along the beach for a bit.
We even got in and went for a swim.

We left Galveston at noon on Monday.

I was craving Mexican food so we ate at Ruby Tequilas for lunch once we got back to Houston.

We relaxed for a bit before we headed out for some firework action.
There were several country performers beforehand.

I was excited

Sadly, I had to get up this morning and leave.
I cried a couple of times...but luckily I had my shades on...so no one could tell ;)

I feel like I should add some nursing stuff in here.
I did read (study) on the plane today. I also held back my anger when a grumpy man gave me an attitude on the airplane. I even said "Excuse me".
Oh...yes. When I helped Lance put on his lotion for basking in the sun...I rubbed it in my hands to warm it first. This was after I tried one squirt and he screamed that it was very cold. Okay, so he helped me a little on that one. I must always remember to temp adjust something I am putting on a patient.

Back to the real world tomorrow.
