PEDS

Today in community health we discussed epidemiology. At first I wasn't that interested, but by the end of the lecture I was enjoying it. We discussed different vectors and diseases and ways they are spread.
The Peds lecture was a special one today. We had a guest lecturer who is a child life specialist. Child Life Specialists work with patients, their family and others involved in the child’s care in order to help them manage stress and understand medical and various procedures.
The rest of the class we rotated between 3 different rooms. Some fellow students and DUSON staff brought their kids. We got to spend time with different aged kids and try to get a Denver Development Assessment done. The first room I was in had two 10 years olds and one 6 year old. The Denver Development Assessment only goes up to 6 years of age, so we spent time talking with the kids. We asked them about school, sports, and we played hangman with them.
The second room had toddler aged kids. I got a lot of the assessment done with one of my fellow student's twins.
The third room had more toddler aged kids. It was really nice to see everyone's kids and spouses.

I came home and made lunch and then went for a run.

I found some red leaves. I'm not sure if this is happening at the right time...but I'm going to pretend it's the beginning of Fall.

I attempted to take a nap. I may have gotten 20 minutes in.
Alley got some sleep in too.

I read a chapter out of my Research book.

I have to get up really early tomorrow.
bye!
